About the Book

The Shadow of the Soul is a historical psychological thriller set in the famine-ravaged Ukrainian village of Hermakivka during the Soviet occupation. It follows Viktor, a man torn between survival and morality, as he protects those dearest to him from predatory Nazi spies— “stragglers”—who bring death and chaos to the innocent. Yet the greatest enemy he faces is not human but spiritual: The Shadow, a malignant presence that clouds judgment and threatens to consume his soul.
